Supporting you through your maternity and parenthood journey.
A mother and baby club with a professional twist…
Here at The Upskill Drill, our aim is to bring professional women together throughout their maternity journey to connect and build that all-important Mum network whilst also progressing professionally. We hope to enhance your maternity journey, leave you with lifelong connections and have you feeling refreshed, energised and ready for the next phase of your career.
It makes sense to start with the driving force behind why we do, what we do…
Picture this… you take a year career break, go on relaxing holidays, travel the world, and focus on your well being and health. Then you come back to work after a blissful 365 days. Bit of a shock, it will probably take you a while to get back into the swing of things. Sounds plausible that you would need a bit of time to get back to peak performance and you are likely going to have to put in some hours graft to get there. If we’re being honest, most of us have needed the time to ramp back up after a week away!
Maternity leave… up to a year away from the office, raising your child/children, meeting their every need, on a schedule often run by them. In this year you will likely have little to no time for yourself, heavily interrupted sleep, and you’re mostly spending that time in the four walls of your own home. The complete opposite of a 365-day career break. We are definitely missing out on all of the high highs you will experience, but our point is, you don’t conclude your leave feeling rested, refreshed and relaxed. You are likely just organising your childcare routine and then bam, back in work with not a lot, if any, support to get back to where you were and crucially you no longer have an unlimited bank of time that you can freely dip into to support your performance.
What we offer is a personal development plan tailored to some of the challenges working mothers may face on their return back to work. A plan that will help you focus in on efficiency, clarity, organisation and prioritisation. It will engage you during your time off and help you with your return when the time comes.
If you are not lucky enough to have friends living close by and expecting around the same time as you, then you are likely going to want to forge new friendships which can be difficult. We want to help you do that, because, we promise you, you aren’t the only one! Therefore alongside the course content you will have plenty of opportunity to meet and socialise with other mums who will hopefully become your mummy network, with the added bonus of slotting in nicely to your extended professional network. We host informal meet-ups online and in person, aimed at bringing mums together to support each other, connect and importantly get our little ones some baby besties.
